WELSH SPRINGER SPANIEL RESCUE

http://www.wssca.com/html/wsscaRescue.html

The Welsh Springer Spaniel Club of America (WSSCA) has a very active and successful breed rescue program operating locally and nationally.

The WSSCA Breed Rescue Coordinator is the Clubs primary point of contact for all rescues and coordinates all rescue efforts. When rescues and/or adoptions are necessary they are accomplished through the combined efforts of the WSSCA Breed Rescue Coordinator and Welsh Springer breeders in the area where the dog is placed into rescue.

The WSSCA Breed Rescue Coordinator and primary point of contact is:

Shannon Gandee
heatherstone@wirefire.com

Welsh Springer breeders are vary particular as to where their puppies are placed.  Many Welsh Springer breeders have extensive questionnaires which must be completed well in advance (some with "in-person" interviews) and prospective new owners are then placed on waiting lists. Because of the extensive screening there are few dogs that come up for adoption.

If you are interest in adopting a homeless Welsh Springer or know a Welsh Springer Spaniel that needs to be rescued please review the WSSCA rescue Policy and Procedures on their website,

http://www.wssca.com/html/wsscaRescue.html ,  before contacting Shannon Gandee.

Rescue Information

The English Springer Spaniel Field Trial Association endorses the concept of rescue for dogs deserving of a second chance; however, the ESSFTA does NOT undertake the rescue or placement of individual dogs. These activities are best managed by local organizations. We urge you to support rescue efforts in your area, whether through monetary contributions, time, transportation, grooming, or other donations. If you would like to investigate adopting a rescue ESS, or seek advice on obtaining a new home for an ESS, please use the links provided below to independent English Springer Spaniel rescue organizations. These links should not be viewed as an endorsement, as the ESSFTA has no control over or input into the activities and management of these organizations.
